Evolution of Solar Wind Transients through the Heliosphere and Associated Space Weather Effects

专题简介 (Session Description):

A key question in solar and heliospheric physics is how solar wind transients (e.g., coronal mass ejections, co-rotating interaction regions and shocks) originate, propagate through and interact with the heliosphere. The aim of this session is threefold: (1) to improve our understanding of how the transients propagate from the corona far into the heliosphere by bringing together multi-point remote sensing and in situ observations, theoretical modeling and numerical simulations; (2) to investigate how the transients produce space weather effects around the Earth and other planets throughout the solar system; and (3) to discuss concepts and design of future missions needed for the next step forward in our understanding of the corona and heliosphere and space weather forecasting.
